Members of Touring Ghana painting the school
Residents of Agbekotsekpo, a village in the Shai Osudoku District in the Greater Accra Region, have called on the government, institutions and individuals to come to their aid, as the village lacks basic amenities for living.
The call was made when members of Touring Ghana, a social and philanthropic group, visited the community over the weekend to paint school buildings, and to donate books and other items to aid education of the children in the community.
Convener of Touring Ghana, Dominic Nana Yaw Antwi Boasiako, said the group was touched when members saw pictures of the state of the school on social media, and that upon discussions, they decided to visit the village, paint the entire school buildings, and donate books and other necessary items.
According to him, this is the second time Touring Ghana was embarking on such a painting project, pointing out that they did the same at St. Ann Marie Children’s Hospital in Accra in 2014, as part of their social responsibility for the community.
Assistant Head Teacher of the school, Frank Vulley, who received the donated items, expressed gratitude to the group for the kind gesture, and prayed for God’s blessings upon the members.
He used the opportunity to enumerate the various challenges facing the school, and mentioned in particular, lack of fans in the classrooms, desks and chairs, library, science and computer laboratories, text books, washrooms, teacher’s bungalow, among others.
He also said road network to the village was also in poor state, while health facility is lacking in the community.
