The Tema Regional Police Command is on a manhunt for the arrest of four persons suspected to be involved in the murder of Felix Tetteh Batcha, a car dealer in Tema Community Nine.
Felix Tetteh Batcha was shot by assailants around Bamfo Hotel, Tema, on Monday, April 25, 2022.
A statement issued by the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Tema Regional Police Command, Chief Inspector Stella Dede Dzakpasu, said preliminary investigations indicate that at 2pm on Monday, April 25, the deceased received a call from a man who expressed an interest in buying one of the cars he was selling.
She said the prospective buyer introduced himself as a doctor at the Community 22 Polyclinic.
“When the car dealer arrived at the Polyclinic, the supposed doctor claimed he was busy at the surgical theatre, and, therefore, sent one of his boys to go on a test drive with the deceased and his friend, who had accompanied him.
When they got to a spot around Bamfo Hotel, Chief Inspector Dzakpasu said, the test driver stopped the vehicle and got down under the pretext of making a phone call.
“Some minutes later, three men emerged on a motorbike, attempted to forcibly collect the ignition key from the deceased, and in the ensuing struggle, shot him,” the police PRO said in the statement.
She said the vehicle has been recovered, and the police anti-robbery task force is working to get the perpetrators arrested.
“The Inspector-General of Police has spoken to the family of the victim, and assured them of a thorough investigation into the incident, and also provide police clinical psychologists to offer psycho-social support to them. The Regional Commander also visited the family to commiserate with them.
“We wish to assure the public that those involved in the crime can run but can never hide. We will do whatever it takes to get them arrested to face justice,” she added.
