Showbiz personality and entrepreneur, Confidence Haugen, and Legal practitioner, Lawyer Ephraim Agbeko Vordoagu, have been installed as Queen and King of Anlo, respectively in the Volta Region of Ghana.
The chieftaincy title was conferred on them by elders and kingmakers of the Anlo Kingdom.
They were taken through the requisite traditional rites under the stool names Mamaga Abui Buiekpor II (Confidence Haugen) and Dutor Torgbiga Wenya III (Lawyer Ephraim Agbeko Vordoagu).
Mamaga Abui Buiekpor II hails from the Tovie Clan, and would serve as the highest female-led office of the Anlo Kingdom.
The role of Dutor Torgbiga Wenya III would serve as the Head of the Loafe Clan of Anlo, the Founder of the Anlo Kingdom and the Head of State of Anlo Land.
Sharing photos from the event on her Instagram page, the newly installed Queen of Anlo wrote: “Experiencing and appreciating our Ewe culture and tradition, a true learning process.”
Friends, family and fans of Queen Confidence Haugen, now Mamaga Abui Buiekpor II, are happy about this new development, and are looking forward to the growth and unity it will bring to the land.
Confidence changed the face of nightlife in Accra with the opening of her Aphrodisiac Nightclub in 2004. Aphrodisiac, which operated from Dzorwulu, quickly became a famous entertainment hub, attracting a motley of elite clientele from both home and abroad due to its exclusivity.
The club operated for over a decade till its closure in 2015. Confidence Haugen launched her bags, shoes and accessories label Konfidence brand in Ghana with a big celebration on September 9, 2012, and later added the Konfidence Hair brand.
Confidence has been based in the UK for some time now, and is currently back home for good to lead her people in Anlo, where her father hails from, and to help develop Adidome, which is her mother’s hometown.
