The Accra Regional Police Command says it has deployed special team to provide adequate safety and secuirty in a gated community in Osu where two tigers are being kept in a residential facility.
According to the police, it has been receiving complaints about the issue as investigation has been opened to unravel the circumstances that led to a resident having the tigers at home.
“Preliminary investigations have established that a resident in a gated community at Osu is keeping two tigers under lock in a cage in his house.”
“While investigations continue, we will like to entreat all residents within the community to remain calm as we work with our stakeholders to ensure their safety,” a statement issued by the Public Affairs Unit of the Police Command on Thursday said.
“Police have reached out to the Wildlife Division of the Forestry Commission and efforts are underway to relocate the animals to an appropriate facility.”
However, last Thursday, May 19, businessman Freedom Jacob Caesar confirmed keeping the seven-month-old animals.
According to him, the move was to enhance the tourism potential of Ghana.
