ERIC NANA Agyemang-Prempeh, Director-General of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), has been elected as the president of the National Association of Local Authorities of Ghana (NALAG).
He beat three other aspirants including Bismark Baisie Nkum, the incumbent president of the association to assume the position.
The NADMO boss polled 419 votes to defeat other aspirants: Alfred Asiedu Adjei, Eric Kwaku Kusi and Bismark Baisie Nkum, who garnered 398, 321 and 124 votes respectively.
Speaking after being sworn in, Eric Nana Agyemang-Prempeh pledged to rebrand the image of the organisation and work with relevant stakeholders to remove structures and buildings on waterways.
He, however, indicated that he would set up a committee to engage the Ministry of Works and Housing, NADMO and other stakeholders to ensure that maximum human face is applied during the implementation stage.
He also promised to develop a proper welfare scheme for all assembly members in the country.
Sumaila Doho, Evelyn Dansoa Boateng, Sandra Owusu-Ahinkorah were also elected for the positions of 1st Vice President, 2nd Vice President and Treasurer respectively.
Other executives included Kenneth Adom Agyei, Trustee, Isaac Kwadwo Boabeng, Trustee, and Gladys Addo Otae Osei, Women’s Caucus. The executives are to steer the affairs of the association for the next two years.
NALAG held its national executives’ elections during its three-day 21st biennial national delegates’ conference in Kumasi recently.
