Vivo Energy Ghana, has handed over a renovated St. Peter’s Primary School Block at Poase New Takoradi, to the community.
It was to complement the government’s efforts towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals ‘4’ of ensuring equitable education for all.
In addition to the renovation, the company furnished the school block with dual classroom and teachers’ desks, bookshelves and ceiling fans.
Commercial Manager of Vivo Energy Ghana, Nana Bernard Bosompem, stressed that the renovation of the community school was a testament of the company’s commitment to the development of its communities.
He said, “We take pride in the impact of this initiative knowing that the facility will be used to educate and transfer knowledge to the younger ones”.
He was hopeful that the new classroom block will provide a safe shelter and a conducive environment for academic excellence to thrive.
“In line with our environmental sustainability programme dubbed Cyclean, we will donate waste bins to promote waste segregation in the school”, he assured.
The Western Regional Minister, Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah, commended the oil marketing company for complementing government’s efforts in making education accessible to all.
He said the government was committed to helping the private sector to grow so they could support their communities’ development.
The headteacher of the school, Madam Lawrencia Vroom was grateful to Vivo Energy for the initiative and called on other entities operating in the area to emulate.
