The Methodist Church, Ghana has inaugurated the Twifo Ntafrewaso hospital to improve healthcare delivery.
The 50-bed capacity hospital forms part of the Church’s strategic health agenda to ensure quality access to health within targeted communities.
It is also to assist the government in its quest to attain Universal Health Coverage (UHC).
The facility, operating in phases will begin with the Outpatient Department (OPD) section, and after full completion it will be a surgical specialist centre of excellence for the training of all cadres of health professionals.
Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church, Ghana, Most Rev. Dr. Paul Kwabena Boafo, said the church prioritizes not only the spiritual needs of the people but their education, health and general wellbeing.
For that reason, he said the church had been keen on providing the needed infrastructure for schools and hospitals and instrumental in the provision of water and sanitation facilities, rural communities.
He stressed the church’s determination to forge stronger partnership with the government in order to bring development to the all Ghanaians irrespective of where they find themselves.
Executive Director, Christian Health Association of Ghana (CHAG), Dr. Peter Yeboah, noted that the Methodist church’s contribution towards development could not be downplayed.
He added that CHAG was committed to assisting underserved, neglected communities to bridge the health inequities which existed between rural and urban areas to ensure easy access to health by everyone in the country.
Nana Gyamrah Akoto II, Chief of Twifo Ntafrewaso expressed gratitude to the Church and management for the support in improving quality healthcare delivery in the area.
He appealed to the health professionals to do its best to provide the quality service to gain trust and boost patronage at facility.
The Bank of Ghana partnering the church provided the hospital with beds, tables, an electricity plant and ambulance to support in effective delivery of service for the people.
This is the fifth hospital inauguration by the Methodist church in the country.
