29 ‘Criminals’ Grabbed In K’si

A MAJOR police swoop at Tafo-Pankrono in Kumasi has led to the arrest of 29 suspected criminals from known ghettos in the community.

The successful security operation was conducted between the hours of 8am to 6pm on Thursday, June 22, 2023, at the various ghettos in the area.

Among those arrested included four females; a 14 year old girl and 25 males. Dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp were also found on them.

A police report from Tafo-Pankrono District explained that the operation was meant to weed out criminals from the area so that law and order would prevail.

“On 22/06/2023 between the hours of 0800 and 1800, Tafo Pankrono District Police Command embarked on special operation at the various suspected criminals hideouts within its area of responsibility to weed out criminals within the district.

“In all twenty-nine suspects were arrested to the station together some wrappers of dried leaves suspected to be lndian Hemp and sachets of Tramadol capsules,” the police said.

The report gave the names of the suspects as Godfred Duah, 20, Owusu Desmond, 23, Owusu Kwabena, 18, Sherifa Hamza, 20, Kojo Owusu, 19 and Charles Kwofie, 19.

The rest are Boateng Isaac, 18, Evans Adu, 20, Evans Appiah, 18, Kwame Godwin, 18, Senayor Benjamin, 23, Francis Boateng 20, Osei Sekyere Henry, 17 and Bonah Wilson, 17.

Others are Nana Kwame, 17, Appiah Previous, 17, Shadrack Addae, 28, Evans Amankwah, 31, Yaw Mensah, 25, Mohammed Sani, 21, Osei Kofi, 24 and Jennifer Kwarteng, 14.

The remaining suspects are Linda Oppong, 20, Rose Badu, 20, Abdallah Rashid, 17, Okyere Frank, 17, Clement Appiah, 19, Mubarak Zeba, 23 and Akwasi Frimpong, 20.

The police report said, “the suspects would be screened and those found culpable or involved in any previous crime committed would be dealt with according to law”.
