THE BODY of a young girl, believed to be 18 years old, has sadly been found in an uncompleted building at Anwiankwanta in the Ashanti Region.
Identified as Abena Georgina, the body of the victim was discovered half naked in a kneeling position.
Some residents of the hitherto peaceful community, reportedly, saw the body on Sunday morning and raised the alarm, attracting people to the scene.
According to eyewitnesses’ reports, there were blood stains close to the body, which was placed in two pillars, a strong indication that the girl was gang-raped.
Most of the people who rushed to the crime scene to catch a glimpse of the dead teenager, unanimously suspected that Abena was killed on Saturday evening.
According to them, the kneeling position of Abena and the fact that the body was found half naked, showed that perhaps she was gang-raped by some people.
They also said they suspected that Abena was gang-raped at a different location before her body was dumped in the uncompleted building, close to her house.
The body has since been deposited at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) mortuary in Kumasi for preservation and autopsy, the paper learnt.
Meanwhile, checks made by the paper indicated that no arrest has been made yet in connection with Abena’s death, when this story was being filed.
Other reports, however, indicated that the police in the Ashanti Region have intensified their investigations in order to apprehend the culprits, who are still at large.
In a related development, a short video, which has gone viral, captured when Abena’s body was found in the uncompleted building on Sunday morning.
A certain woman, who was believed to be the mother of Abena, was virtually soaked in tears in the video, as people at the scene were seen consoling her.
