GCB officials handing-over the cheque to GJA Executives
The Ghana Commercial Bank (GCB) has been announced as the lead sponsor for the 27th Ghana Journalist Association (GJA) set to be held on Sunday, October 29, 2023, at the Accra International Conference Centre at 3 p.m.
Addressing journalists at a brief press conference in Accra, GJA President, Albert Kwabena Dwumfour, expressed gratitude to the management of the Ghana Commercial Bank for its kind gesture to sponsor this year’s awards.
He said the awards themed, “Leveraging media freedom to sustain the democratic and security architecture: The litmus test of Election 2024” is expected to be attended by at least 1000 participants, including Ministers of State, Members of Parliament, ,embers of the Diplomatic Corps, and representatives of local and international media partners.
The Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, Mrs. Jean Mensa, will be the Keynote Speaker at the ceremony, which will be chaired by the Chairman of the National Peace Council, Rev Dr Ernest Adu Gyamfi.
He added that the Minister of Information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah; the Chairman of the National Media Commission, Yaw Boadu-Ayeboafoh, and the US Ambassador to Ghana, Virginia E. Palmer, will serve as guests of honour.
General Council of GCB PLC, Jessie Jacintho, said the bank’s commitment to sponsor this year’s awards is in commemoration of its 70th anniversary and in recognition of the role of journalists in nation development.
“As a dominant local bank in providing unraveled solutions towards the socio-economic development of Ghana our sponsorship is to show the bank’s commitment to standing with our own people,” she said.
