Manaf Wins Asawase NPP Poll

Manaf Ibrahim, NPP Parliamentary Candidate for Asawase

 

A former Head of Political Affairs at the Office of the Vice President, Manaf Ibrahim, has been elected parliamentary candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Asawase constituency of the Ashanti Region.

Manaf polled 765 votes, beating his main opponent, Hajia Zainab Sallow, the Ashanti Regional Director of the Micro-Finance and Small Loans Center (MASLOC), who received 231 votes.

The third aspirant, Osman Yussif, finished at a distance with nine votes in the election.

The Asawase constituency is a safe seat for the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the NPP’s Ashanti stronghold, and Ibrahim committed in his victory speech to unite the party to unseat the sitting MP, Muntaka Mubarak.

Manaf Ibrahim, who has held several key positions in the, stated that he has what it takes to win the seat for the NPP.

Ejura Polls

In Ejura Constituency, Gifty Ndoma won the parliamentary slot after polling 522 votes to beat competition from Kingsley Nana Owusu, who secured 259 votes and Mohammed Amin Yakubu, who had 57 votes.

Sekyere Afram Plains

The Sekyere Afram Plains parliamentary slot was won by George Akom with 205 votes. He beat Hamidu Sulemana, who had 125 votes.

The Ashanti Regional NPP Research Officer, Stephen Owusu, has congratulated the winners in the polls and called for unity to help the party win the orphan seats in 2024.

On his part, Lawyer Kwame Adom Appiah, Ashanti Regional NPP Scribe, said the Saturday’s polls were free and fair.
