The convict, Priscilla Adutwumwaa
A TWENTY-ONE-YEAR-old unemployed woman has been jailed six years in hard labour for stealing a four-year-old child in Kumasi, in the Ashanti Region.
Priscilla Adutwumwaa was found guilty for child theft, and she was jailed by the Tafo Circuit Court, presided over by Her Ladyship, Mrs. Lawrence Gyamfi.
Detective Inspector S.K. Oppong, the prosecutor of the case, disclosed in court that one Abena Owusuwaa, a trader, is the complainant in the case.
According to him, Owusuwaa and her four-year-old daughter (name withheld) live at Mamponteng, whilst Adutwumwaa also resides at Kokofu.
The prosecutor informed the court that on December 16, 2023, the complainant’s four-year-old daughter suddenly got missing from their house in Mamponteng.
According to the prosecutor, the case was reported to the Mamponteng police to help trace the missing girl in order to reunite her with her distraught mother.
Detective Inspector Oppong noted that the investigations eventually led to the arrest of Adutwumwaa, who was found with the missing child at Adum, on January 3, 2024.
