The NPP opened nominations on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, and the election is planned for Saturday, April 13, 2024.
Following the vetting on Saturday, April 6, 2024, the party indicated that it will shortly issue guidelines for the primary as it prepares for the Ejisu by-election.
The Vetting Committee additionally conducted a ballot for the candidates, with Kwabena Boateng taking the first position and Dr. Evans Duah taking the second.
Klinsman Karikari Mensah took third position, followed by Helena Mensah, Jacqueline Amoah-Boaitey, Portia Baffoe Abronye, Kwesi Nyantakyi, Aaron Prince Duah, and Yaa Akyawmaa Aboagye in fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh, eighth, and ninth place.
NPP Director of Elections, Evans Nimako, told the media that the committee cleared all nine applicants to run in order to provide adequate opportunity for party members interested in running for the MP office.
He stated that the party’s national executives would meet with the candidates on Tuesday and that they had been urged to run clean campaigns to ensure unity.
“The Committee has recommended that all of them be allowed to participate in this contest. Also, we’ve taken them through the ballot and so balloting has also been done.
“We’ve informed them that the National Executives of the party will meet them on Tuesday,” he stated.
“They have been advised by the Committee to conduct a campaign exercise that will bring unity,” Mr. Nimako added.
