The body of the dead woman being taken to the morgue
A 55-YEAR-old woman, Joyce Boateng, has allegedly killed her biological mother, Afia Sarpong, 76, at Abuakwa-Asenemaso near Kumasi.
On Monday dawn, the suspect, without provocation, was said to have stabbed her mother multiple times with a sharp knife and left her in a pool of blood.
After committing the heinous crime, Joyce reportedly left her dead mother in a locked room and raced to a nearby cemetery where she tried to end her life but to no avail.
According to reports, a certain man of God had prophesied to Joyce that her mother was a witch and responsible for the difficulties she had been facing in life.
This revelation is reported to have infuriated Joyce, prompting her to kill her mother so she would have peace and enjoy life.
DAILY GUIDE gathered that some people saw Joyce hurriedly heading towards the cemetery so they became suspicious and followed her, only to find her drinking weedicide.
The poison could not kill Joyce, so she was quickly apprehended and handed over to the police, who after interrogation charged her with murder.
In a related development, DAILY GUIDE has learnt that Joyce was hauled to court yesterday. She is thereafter being remanded for two weeks.
