Thousands of New Patriotic Party (NPP) members in Dome-Kwabenya Constituency in a remarkable show of solidarity and support embarked on a health walk to promote the parliamentary candidate for the area and Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s flagship digitalisation agenda aimed at boosting socio-economic activities and productivity.

Led by Ambassador Mike Oquaye Jnr, the Dome-Kwabenya Constituency parliamentary candidate, the walk commenced in the early hours of Saturday, July 6 at Burger Junction, Taifa through Atomic Down Roundabout to Dome, and ended at Taifa Post Office.

The walk saw regional, constituency, and polling station executives come together to rally support for the parliamentary candidate and Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to ‘break the 8’ in the upcoming December 7 general election.

The event in Taifa is part of the NPP’s campaign efforts to revive the area and connect with residents, following a recent walk and chocolate-sharing event in Haatso.

Ambassador Oquaye Jnr, addressing the party members at the forecourt of Taifa Post Office, emphasised the importance of unity among party members, urging them to vote for him and the NPP in the upcoming general election to continue and complete the good work the party is implementing, which will create more job opportunities for the youth.

Ambassador Oquaye Jnr acknowledged the impact of COVID-19 and technological advancements on the job market, but expressed optimism about Dr. Bawumia’s vision for job creation, particularly in the ICT sector.

“The unemployment rate issue is a global issue, but here in Ghana the NPP government is doing a lot to reduce the situation, and with Dr. Bawumia’s vision and digitalisation agenda in the ICT sector, more jobs will be created which will enable the youth to get jobs,” he told the party members.

On the choice of Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh as Dr. Bawumia’s running mate, Ambassador Oquaye Jnr said, “Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh is an Asante and the Ashantis rallied behind him,” stressing that recent poll results indicated that the whole region rallied behind him.

“Yes, some party members may not be happy with the choice, but that does not make him unqualified.

“He is human and has flaws, but he has a lot of positive qualities to offer this country. Let us forgive his flaws and support him. Napo’s good qualities are 98%, and he is human just like us, let us all forgive his 2% flaws and support him,” he added.

Ambassador Oquaye Jnr also expressed optimism in Dr. Bawumia’s vision for job creation, particularly in the ICT sector, and urged the youth and elderly in Dome-Kwabenya to vote massively for him and Dr. Bawumia in the December 7 general election, promising to continue development projects of the party in the country.
