HUNDREDS OF underprivileged children at the Chosen Children’s Centre in Accra received donated items from members of Springhouse Chapel International to commemorate the Church’s Founding Day.
The donation was inspired by the Biblical verse James 1:27, which states, “Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this: to visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction and to keep oneself unspotted from the world.”
Executed under the ‘Let Them Smile Foundation,’ a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative of the church, the donation included consumable items such as cartons of soft drinks, packs of mineral water, gallons of cooking oil, biscuits, candies, and bags of rice.
Non-consumable items included gallons of bleaching agents, washing detergents, toiletries, baby diapers and wipes, and wearable clothing.
The initiative also organised a gathering party, allowing the children at the centre and members of the Church to mingle and enjoy each other’s company.
In an interview, the First Lady of Springhouse Chapel International, Rev. Mrs. Agnes Gyan Agyei urged individuals and organisations to support centres that assist the underprivileged, as it helps alleviate poverty and suffering while inspiring positive change and fostering a stronger community.
“As part of our Founding Day celebrations this year, Rev. Ohenese Gyan Agyei chose to share his love with the underprivileged. This donation reflects his goodwill and the contributions made by the church. Remember, every donation, no matter how small, can make a meaningful difference in someone’s life,” she said.
Ahead of the 2024 elections, Rev Mrs. Agnes Gyan Agyei called on the two major political parties; the NPP and the NDC and their supporters to refrain from actions and statements that could jeopardise the peace of the nation.
Mama Felicity Ali, one of the caregivers at the centre, expressed gratitude to the church leadership and its donor partners for their generous contributions. She also took the opportunity to appeal to other stakeholders for support, emphasising that the centre is in dire need of assistance to sustain its daily operations.
