THREE GARRISON Methodist/Presby Church in Sunyani Liberation Barracks, last Sunday offered fervent prayers for peaceful election as the country prepares to go to the polls to elect a new president and parliamentarians in the December general election.

Led by Ex WO1 Fred Asante, he tasked the congregation to pray for the Electoral Commission (EC) to conduct fair, transparent and credible elections to avoid plunging the country into chaos.

He spoke of the ravages of war that has bedeviled countries such as Sudan, Lebanon among others.

“We know what is happening in Israel and Palestine and other conflict areas. Those of us who have been to peacekeeping duties know what it is. We have seen how women and children suffer in those countries. Soldiers on peacekeeping duties find themselves in bunkers and hear sounds of bullets and bombs landing at the next place. It is terrible and horrible. So let’s pray for peaceful election,” he stressed.

“Let’s also pray for all soldiers on peacekeeping duties internally and externally for God to protect them and bring them back safely. Only last week we heard of violent clashes at Mion District in the Northern Region over land dispute where some people lost their lives,” he added.

Ms. Charity Appiah, who preached on the theme, “Christ Our Living Bread,” urged the congregation to partake in Christ the living bread in whom there is everlasting life.

“When you partake in Christ the living bread, you will never go hungry and thirsty spiritually. You cannot win the war of life if you don’t partake in Jesus, the living bread given to us by God,” she emphasised.
