In a scathing rebuke, Nana Takyi Poku Gyimah, Chief of Yefri, has denounced critics of the Free SHS double track system, labeling their opposition as “baseless” and “senseless.”
The Chief’s remarks come as the NPP Vice Presidential Candidate, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, visited his palace on Saturday.
The double track system, introduced in 2018, was a temporary measure to address the surge in student enrollment following the implementation of Free SHS.
Despite its utility, critics lambasted the system as evidence of poor planning.
However, these same critics are now proposing a 24-hour economy, which the Chief finds hypocritical.
“It makes no sense for those who criticized the double track system to now propose a 24-hour economy,” Nana Takyi Poku Gyimah said.
“They have failed to explain what they mean by a 24-hour economy, and it’s clear they lack the ingenuity to address our nation’s challenges.”
The Chief praised the NPP government for its development initiatives in his area and commended Dr. Opoku Prempeh for his role in implementing Free SHS and the double track system.
He urged his subjects to continue supporting the NPP and vote for Dr. Bawumia’s presidential bid.
This development comes as the NPP intensifies its campaign ahead of the 2024 elections.
The party’s focus on education and economic development has resonated with many Ghanaians, but critics argue that more needs to be done to address the nation’s challenges.
