Asiedu Nketiah
A leading Ghanaian political pressure group, Alliance for Accountable Governance, AFAG, has strongly denounced National Democratic Congress (NDC) Chairman, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, for allegedly promoting tribal and ethnic divisions in the Central region.
AFAG warns that such tactics can fuel hatred and regional suspicion, citing examples from Kenya and Nigeria.
In a statement, AFAG expressed concern that Nketiah’s actions threaten Ghana’s peace and unity.
The group views Asiedu Nketiah’s approach as a “slippery road” and “backward style of politics” aimed at gaining power.
The controversy centers on Nketiah’s comments, which AFAG believes target the Central region’s voting patterns. The region is crucial in Ghana’s political landscape, and AFAG argues that residents should be able to exercise their franchise without interference.
AFAG urges the public to condemn Nketiah’s alleged tribal politics, emphasizing that his actions are undemocratic and unconstitutional.
The group notes that Asiedu Nketiah’s family resides comfortably in Canada, while he seeks to sow discord among Ghana’s ethnic groups for personal gain.
AFAG’s leadership emphasized the importance of preserving Ghana’s unity, stating that the Central region’s residents have consistently made informed voting decisions since the 4th Republic began.
