Deputy Minister for Works and Housing, Dr. Prince Hamid Armah, has called for enhanced collaboration between the government, industry, and academia to drive engineering excellence and national development.
Speaking at the second edition of the CEOs’ Breakfast Meeting, organised by the Engineering Council under the theme, “Engineering Excellence for National Development: A Collective Responsibility,” Dr. Hamid Armah highlighted engineering as the cornerstone of Ghana’s infrastructure and economic progress.
He underscored the importance of investing in Ghana’s engineering talent, noting that the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) produces over 2,000 graduates annually.
“Are we creating the right environment for these professionals to excel and contribute meaningfully to our nation?” he asked
Dr. Hamid Armah praised the Engineering Council for its role in ensuring that engineering practices in Ghana meet the highest standards.
“By regulating the profession, setting rigorous standards, and promoting continuous professional development, the Council safeguards the integrity, competence, and public safety of engineering practice, this framework fosters accountability and excellence throughout the engineering sector,” he said.
He commended the Council’s efforts in maintaining high standards, providing regulatory oversight, and licensing engineers, which are crucial for fostering innovation, enhancing project quality, and boosting investor confidence—key components of robust national development.
“Collaboration between the government, industry, and academia is crucial for nurturing innovation, advancing research, and applying engineering principles practically. We must champion partnerships that drive the adoption of cutting-edge technologies, sustainable infrastructure, and innovative solutions tailored to our national context,” he noted.
Dr. Prince Hamid Armah encouraged CEOs and business leaders to actively support the Engineering Council’s mission to promote engineering excellence, paving the way for a prosperous and sustainable future for Ghana.
