Hubtel, a leading Ghanaian fintech company, has found itself at the center of a brewing controversy surrounding its partnership with the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG).
Recent allegations of financial impropriety have plagued the deal, prompting Hubtel to issue a strong rebuttal.
Background of the Controversy
In 2020, Hubtel partnered with ECG to provide a convenient payment platform for electricity consumers. The collaboration aimed to enhance customer experience and reduce revenue losses.
However, whispers of financial irregularities began circulating, casting a shadow over the partnership.
Hubtel’s Response
In a statement, Hubtel categorically denied any wrongdoing, emphasizing its commitment to transparency and ethical business practices.
The company clarified that: all transactions are processed through ECG’s designated bank accounts, Hubtel doesn’t handle or manage ECG’s funds and revenue shares are clearly defined and audited.
