I’m Committed to Peaceful Polls- Bawumia

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the presidential candidate of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), has reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring a peaceful election process in Ghana.

This pledge came during a meeting with former Nigerian President Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, who led a delegation of the West African Elders Forum (WAEF) to the Jubilee House.

The WAEF, an initiative of the Goodluck Jonathan Foundation, promotes democracy, peace, and security in the sub-region.

Dr. Jonathan’s delegation, which included H.E. Kadre Desire Quadraago, former President of the ECOWAS Commission, is in Ghana on a pre-election mission to promote peaceful elections.

Dr Bawumia emphasized Ghana’s reputation as one of the most peaceful countries in the sub-region and reiterated his dedication to preserving this peace and harmony.

This commitment aligns with his previous statements, where he stressed that the quest for political power should not compromise national development.

The NPP has consistently demonstrated its commitment to peaceful elections, with Bawumia reaffirming this pledge during various public engagements.

In April 2024, he urged Ghanaians to ensure a peaceful election process during the 13th Annual Night of Power.
