Bawumia Calls Out NDC’s Desperation… As Opposition Party Faces Defeat

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has taken a swipe at the National Democratic Congress (NDC), saying their desperate attempt to occupy the Majority side in Parliament is a clear indication they’re losing the upcoming elections.

Speaking at a rally in the Volta Region, Bawumia questioned the NDC’s motives, asking why they’re fighting to be the majority with just two months to the elections.

“The NDC knows they are losing this election… they’re panicking,” he said.

This development comes on the heels of a Supreme Court ruling directing Parliament to recognize four MPs, whose seats were declared vacant by the Speaker, Alban Bagbin.

The affected lawmakers are Cynthia Morrison (Agona West), Kwadwo Asante (Suhum), Andrew Asiamah Amoako (Fomena), and Peter Kwakye Ackah (Amenfi Central).

The NDC has vowed to protect their newfound Majority status, with leader Cassiel Ato Forson stating, “We will not bow, retreat, nor surrender our lawfully earned status… Any interference with the business of Parliament is unlawful, unacceptable, and shall be resisted.”

However, Dr Bawumia remains confident, saying, “For us, we are going to stay focused, we will not be distracted, we are the Majority party, and we will be the majority on December 7.”
