Kasoa Money Ritual Teenager Gets Life Imprisonment

A seven-member jury has unanimously found two teenagers guilty of murdering a 10-year-old boy in Kasoa for money ritual purposes in 2021.

The High Court, presided over by Justice Lydia Osei Marfo, sentenced 18-year-old Nicholas Kini to life imprisonment.

Background of the Case

In April 2021, Ishmael Mensah Abdallah, a pupil of Marantha Preparatory school, was lured and killed by his confidants in an uncompleted building in their vicinity.

The trial began in March 2023 at the High Court.

Trial and Verdict

The 15-year-old juvenile confessed to the crime but pleaded not guilty to murder.

The 18-year-old denied involvement. The prosecution called seven witnesses, and the state attorney attacked the credibility of the 18-year-old’s testimony.

Sentencing and Reactions

Justice Marfo deferred sentencing the 15-year-old to the juvenile court, citing the Juvenile Justice Act 2003.
