Police Grab Mamobi Gun Suspect

The Ghana Police Service has arrested Fatau Ibrahim, also known as Fatau Motorway, who was previously declared wanted for his involvement in the clashes between New Patriotic Party (NPP) and National Democratic Congress (NDC) supporters at Mamobi in Accra.

Fatau Motorway was reportedly observed carrying a firearm during the October 13, 2024, disturbances in Mamobi, as evidenced by video footage.

The police, in a statement, said the suspect had been put in custody and would be taken to court in due course.

The statement indicated that the Office of the Attorney Generalwould handle the case in court.

To accelerate Fatau Motorway’s capture, the Ghana Police Service placed a GH¢20,000 bounty on any information that would lead to his arrest.

Already, one person has been arrested in connection with the violent clashes between supporters of the NPP and the NDC at Mamobi.

The political confrontation, which escalated into a violent altercation, resulted in injuries to nine individuals, stirring tensions within the community.

The police acted swiftly to bring the situation under control and have since initiated efforts to apprehend the perpetrators responsible for the unrest.
