Adabraka Robbery: We’ll Get Them – Police

The Ghana Police Service has launched a manhunt for a group of armed robbers who carried out a daylight robbery in the Adabraka community on Saturday, November 2, 2024.

“We would like to assure the public that we will surely get them and bring them to face justice,” a police statement released after the robbery incident said.

This assurance follows a viral video that showed four masked men, heavily armed, attacking a man in a red Toyota Corolla parked near the bustling market in Adabraka.

The assault left one individual with severe injuries.

Eyewitnesses in a conversation with local radio stations reported that the robbers approached the vehicle with guns drawn.

“They fired multiple shots into the air to disperse the crowd, causing shoppers and vendors to scramble for cover behind shops and seek safety from the gunfire,” an eyewitness said.

One eyewitness recounted, “We deal in gold here, and we heard a loud noise, realising it was sporadic shooting. I can’t even talk; I’m surprised. We hid and locked our gate, but they didn’t come to our end. We heard them saying ‘open the boot’ and saw them carrying bags of money from some of the shops. They spent only a few minutes.”

Another eyewitness described the incident, stating, “There are several gold dealer shops here. One of the shop owners had bags containing money in his Toyota Corolla. Immediately he arrived, the robbers approached the car and took the money.

“This is the second time such an incident has happened. The police arrived late; by the time they got here, the armed robbers had fled with the bags of money in their Rav 4. They fired multiple gunshots and scattered money in the air to distract onlookers and scare them away.”

In response to the incident, the police issued a statement confirming that they have deployed personnel to track down the gang responsible for the robbery at the jewelry shop in Adabraka and bring them to face justice.
