Dimeji Ajibola
The Nigerian film industry is in mourning following the passing of prominent Nollywood director and editor, Dimeji Ajibola.
The filmmaker reportedly died in the early hours of November 3, 2024, after battling an undisclosed illness.
Ajibola was known for his work on ‘Shanty Town’, a 2023 crime thriller series that received widespread acclaim for its gripping narrative and strong performances.
He was also celebrated for his earlier work on the award-winning 2012 urban musical film ‘Hoodrush’, which won Best Movie at the 2012 Green Me Film Festival in Germany, among other accolades.
Actor Bolanle Ninalowo confirmed the sad news on Instagram, sharing a heartfelt message along with a photo of Ajibola. “I love you, brother, and I miss you, Dimeji Ajibola. May God heal your family and loved ones. Till we meet again, didi dox, rest on the champ,” he wrote.
Ajibola’s passing has left a significant void in the industry, with many colleagues and fans paying tribute to his talent, creativity, and influence.
Known for pushing the boundaries of storytelling and visual style in Nollywood, Ajibola’s contributions have been instrumental in shaping modern Nigerian cinema.
