We’ve Workable Policies – NPP

Richard Ahiagbah

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has stated that it possesses workable policies to propel Ghana forward.

It has therefore called on Ghanaians to vote for its flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, to continue providing bold solutions to grow the economy.

Speaking at a press conference in Accra yesterday, the NPP Director of Communications, Richard Ahiagbah said the ruling party’s manifesto for this year’s elections offers forward-looking ideas to transform the economy.

He said this, while assessing the manifesto proposals of the NPP’s flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, noting that the party’s campaign has consistently focused on economic solutions, including job creation, comprehensive tax reforms, and digitalisation.

According to Mr. Ahiagbah, while the NPP continues to roll out comprehensive policies aimed at transforming the economy, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and its flagbearer, John Mahama, continue to rely on criticisms and policies that fail to provide Ghanaians with a clear path for informed decision-making on December 7.

He mentioned that the NPP, under President Akufo-Addo, has increased the size of the Ghanaian economy by approximately US$20 billion, from US$56 billion in 2016 to US$76 billion by the end of December 2023.

The NPP Communications Director added that Dr. Bawumia would continue President Akufo-Addo’s remarkable policies and further improve initiatives in areas such as agriculture and mining.

He also noted that if elected, Dr. Bawumia would offer a tax amnesty to all Ghanaians and corporate entities, waiving interest and penalties for businesses that failed to file taxes in previous years, thereby enabling them to start on a clean slate in the new year.

Mr. Ahiagbah stated that Dr. Bawumia, as President, would help reduce the cost of living by stabilising prices and ensuring financing and guarantees from Development Bank Ghana (DBG) and the Ghana Incentive-Based Risk-Sharing System for Agricultural Lending.

This would be achieved by improving the production of staple foods and investing in the preservation of essential food items, meat, poultry, and fish products, along with stabilising the prices of spare parts through the “Flat Rate for All Importers” policy.

Mr. Ahiagbah further noted that, despite global economic challenges over the past eight years, the NPP, under President Akufo-Addo, had created about 2.3 million jobs.

He expressed confidence that Dr. Bawumia, through recently announced policy initiatives, would create additional jobs, provide digital skills training, and foster job creation through private-sector collaboration, infrastructure development, industrialisation, and agribusiness.

He emphasised that a government led by Dr. Bawumia will also prioritise the completion of land titling and registration, to enable property owners to use their assets as collateral to raise capital for business growth and expansion.

Mr. Ahiagbah urged Ghanaians to vote for Dr. Bawumia and the NPP to implement these widely supported policy ideas to grow the economy.

“The economy is everything to vote for on December 7, and Dr. Bawumia and the NPP offer the right policy solutions to boost growth and prosperity for Ghanaians,” he concluded.
