NDC Members Attack Muntaka Over Mahama’s Visit To Kumasi

A visit by former President John Dramani Mahama to the Wangara chief in the Ashanti Region turned chaotic on Monday, November 11, as supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) clashed with Asawase MP, Muntaka Mubarak.

The confrontation occurred when some supporters blocked Mubarak, a member of Mahama’s delegation, from entering the palace.

Former President Mahama’s visit was intended to pay respects to the Wangara chief and the Zongo communities.

However, tensions escalated, and senior party members, including former Ashanti Regional Police Commander, COP Kofi Boakye, intervened to defuse the situation.

The NDC has since condemned the incident, labeling it a serious affront to democratic values and unity within the party.
Nasir Gardenboi, communications director of the NDC in the Asawase Constituency, accused Sarki Don Jazzi and Aboabo Rasta of fueling the attack.

A Call for Investigation

However, the NDC Asawase Constituency has warned that the actions of Asiri Don Jazzy and Aboabo Rasta will not go unpunished and has called for the Ghana Police Service to conduct an immediate investigation into the incident.

The party demands that those responsible be held accountable under the law.
