Dr. Bawumia being mobbed at Obuasi
Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s hope of leading the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to a historic electoral victory on December 7, 2024, was given a massive boost when he visited the Obuasi enclave in the Ashanti Region to campaign.
Scores of excited people, especially traders, were seen leaving their shops and racing to accord a rousing welcome to the NPP presidential candidate when he stepped at Obuasi to canvass for votes.
Within minutes, Dr. Bawumia and his campaign team members were virtually mobbed by a sea of people, who were heard chanting the name of the NPP flagbearer, who clearly was touched by the love, being shown to him.
The excited crowd was also seen hurling tons of praises on Dr. Bawumia, amid firm promises that they would cast their ballots for the NPP leader to continue with the good works of President Nana Akufo-Addo.
Interestingly, similar episode happened when Dr. Bawumia’s campaign trail stopped at Akrofuom near Obuasi on the same day. At Akrofuom, a number of people were seen lined up on the streets to welcome Dr. Bawumia.
The security personnel on duty on the day had to work extra hard before they could eventually freed Dr. Bawumia from the enthusiastic crowd, most of whom were dressed in the NPPs red, white and blue colours.
Dr. Bawumia, whilst addressing various groups in Obuasi, announced that he has plans to implement pragmatic policies and programmes to help reduce the high cost of living in the country when he becomes President.
“Rather than continue to buy fuel and gas to power our domestic systems and industries, we can develop solar farms and manufacture solar panels to power our systems and thus reduce the cost of electricity consumption in the country,” he said.
According to him, he also has plans to ensure massive food production and security in the country as more farmers would be supported with fertilizer and high yielding seedlings to cultivate on their various farms.
Farmers in the country, Dr. Bawumia also remarked, would be supported with agric mechanisation systems in order to allow them to grow their crops, using high level technology and equipment, thereby improving food security.
Dr. Bawumia stated that nurses who are now unemployed because of lack of spaces in the hospitals, would be employed with the completion of the Agenda 111 hospitals, which are progressing steadily across the country.
He said President Akufo-Addo’s government has implemented several social intervention programmes to make life better and easier for the people so he (Bawumia) should win the election and protect those policies.
“I represent bold solutions for development and a vote for me would ensure the protection of useful social interventions and the starting of new policies, aimed at making life more bearable for the people of Ghana”, he said.
