In a landslide victory, Buipewura Abdulai Jinapor II, the Paramount Chief of the Buipe traditional area in the Savannah region, has been elected as the Vice President of the National House of Chiefs.
The election, which took place in Kumasi on Friday, November 22, 2024, saw Buipewura Jinapor polling an impressive 54 votes, beating his three contenders by a significant margin.
Nangodi Naaba, Okukwansuo, and Nana Alloh secured 4, 6, and 9 votes, respectively.
Meanwhile, Nana Ogyeahohuo Yaw Gyebi II has been re-elected for a second term as the President of the National House, winning 42 votes against 30 votes polled by the Chief of Dormaa, Osaagyefo Oseadeeyo Agyeman Badu II.
Buipewura Jinapor’s remarkable life journey has prepared him for this esteemed position.
Born on April 6, 1948, in old Buipe, Savannah Region, he has had a distinguished career as a classroom teacher, police officer, and traditional leader. With over three decades of experience in traditional leadership, Buipewura Jinapor is well-equipped to provide visionary leadership to the National House of Chiefs.
As the father of the history-making Jinapor brothers in Ghana’s Parliament, Buipewura Jinapor’s legacy extends beyond his own achievements.
His sons, John Abdulai Jinapor, Lawyer Samuel Abdulai Jinapor, and Professor Ahmed Jinapor, have all made significant contributions to Ghana’s development.
The National House of Chiefs, the highest body that unites all traditional rulers, chiefs, and kings, has a rich history dating back to the colonial era.
