In a heartwarming display of humility and respect, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the Vice Presidential candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has constructed a Memorial House for late President John Evans Atta-Mills and a Library Project in Ekumfi Otuam, Central Region.
The decision to fund and construct this edifice reflect s a long-held view of the need to honour Ghana’s statesmen who have selflessly dedicated their lives to the service of the nation.
For Dr Prempeh, this visit was particularly meaningful, as he had a deep respect for the late President Atta-Mills, whose character was a shining example of humility and integrity.
Dr Prempeh’s relationship with President Atta-Mills transcended politics, rooted in mutual admiration and a shared commitment to Ghana’s progress.
This bond dates back to his university days when he spent his holidays with a grand-uncle who was a friend to the then Dr. Atta-Mills.
As he toured the memorial, Dr Prempeh was filled with a sense of fulfillment and joy, knowing that this tribute would serve as a lasting legacy to President Atta-Mills’ ideals.
He extended his heartfelt gratitude to the family of the late President, the chiefs, and the people of Otuam for their warm reception.
Dr Prempeh also congratulated the Atta-Mills Institute, led by Koku Anyidoho, for their dedication and leadership in bringing this monumental project to fruition.
This memorial house and library will undoubtedly stand as a testament to President Atta-Mills’ enduring legacy.
