The affected girls’ dormitory at NOBISCO
Windstorm has displaced about 1,000 students of the Northern School of Business (NOBISCO) in Tamale, in the Northern Region.
The incident, which occurred on March 12, 2025, destroyed the roofs of the girls’ dormitory, belongings of students as well as other properties in the school.
The situation compelled students to sleep on the veranda of the dormitory, while others slept in the open of the school.
Some of the affected students lamented about the destruction of their books, uniforms and other learning materials by the windstorm, and called on government and other institutions to come to their aid.
Mr. Alhassan Issah Dokurugu, the Headmaster of NOBISCO, disclosed that one of the boys’ dormitory has been allocated to the affected girls temporarily, to manage the situation.
Mr. Dokurugu, therefore, appealed to the Ministry of Education, individuals, philanthropists and institutions to come to the aid of the school.
“We will appreciate if there can be an immediate intervention, because any delay could cause the collapse of the affected dormitory,” he added.
