Media personality and actress, Abena Kyei Boakye, marked her birthday with a heartwarming gesture by donating essential items to inmates of the Nsawam Female Prisons.
The items include soft drinks, Yazz sanitary pads, bottled water from Special Ice, and other essential supplies worth thousands of Ghana cedis.
The donation exercise was sponsored by Lexta Ghana Limited, Special Ice Company and YAO Consult.
Beyond the donation, Abena Kyei Boakye also organised a party for the inmates, creating a joyous atmosphere filled with music and dance. Some of the inmates who were impressed with their dance moves received special prize packages as part of the celebration.
Speaking at the event, Abena Kyei Boakye, expressed her delight in sharing her special day with the inmates. She encouraged them to remain hopeful despite their circumstances and assured them of her continued prayers.
“It gives me great joy to be here celebrating with you. Do not let your current situation bring you down. I will always keep you in my prayers,” she said.
Receiving the items on behalf of the inmates, Deputy Director of Prisons (DDP), Victoria Adzewodah, extended her gratitude to Abena Kyei Boakye. She noted that the sanitary pads were particularly needed, and the donation had come at the right time.
“This will go a long way to put smiles on the faces of the inmates. We thank you and pray to God to replenish your coffers. The inmates will also pray for you. God bless you,” she said.
Abena Kyei Boakye’s generous act has been widely praised, reinforcing her commitment to supporting women in difficult circumstances.
