Napo being welcomed by the affected traders
Former Member of Parliament (MP) for Manhyia South, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, has urged government to ensure that traders whose shops were burnt at the Blue Light Market in Adum are not discriminated against.
He said the authorities concerned should make sure that all affected traders would be treated fairly, with regards to any decision that would be taken to rebuild the market.
“No affected trader should be discriminated against, regarding any decision that will be taken on the burnt market. We are voted into governorship to help people,” he noted.
Dr. Prempeh, aka ‘Napo’, made this known when he donated GH¢150,000 and 500 bags of cement to help the affected traders.
Napo said GH¢50,000 of the donated cash is from his own pocket, whilst the remaining GH¢100,000 is from his share of the MPs Common Fund, which he left in office.
According to Dr. Prempeh, who was the New Patriotic Party (NPP) running mate for the 2024 elections, he was aware of the ordeal that the affected traders were facing, saying, “we share your pain”.
He openly lamented that it’s worrying for the traders to lose their shops and sources of livelihood in just a day, adding that the entire country is behind the affected traders.
Napo admonished the fire victims to unite as one people in these trying times, stating that it’s his fervent prayers that the traders would overcome their losses and return to business.
