George Oti Bonsu
President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Eco Group of Companies, George Oti Bonsu, has been bestowed with an honorary degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Business Management by the Maryland State University in the US.
He is also the recipient of the prestigious Global Excellence Business Award in Furniture.
Staff of his companies are in celebrant mood as a result of their boss’ achievements.
His excited staff said upon hearing about the news of the honour, “Your visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to excellence continue to inspire us all.”
The award is organised by Honor Crest Institute in Canada, whose partner in Ghana is M-Gibes College of Business and Management.
They nominated Mr. Bonsu to receive honorary doctorate degree award and Global Excellence Business Leader Award in Furniture Works after satisfying themselves that he satisfies all the conditions for the honour.
The colourful event was held at Sky Hotel on May 7, 2025 in Sandton, Johannesburg, South Africa.
The honoree, it would be recalled, was instrumental in the visit to Ghana of a Turkish delegation of businessmen to explore business opportunities for investment, particularly in the health and agricultural sector.
The six-member delegation visited various health facilities and farming communities as part of its preliminary assessment to obtain first-hand information on viable investment projects that could be undertaken in a bid to support government’s development agenda.
Mr. George Oti Bonsu, a business partner who initiated the move for the projects in Ghana, said it is a long-term project that will not only provide good healthcare services but also provide job opportunities, especially for healthcare services.
His Turkish partners, he indicated at the time, were ready to engage in mechanised farming to produce food crops that would not largely be dependent on rainfall, as practiced by most farmers in the country.
