General Overseer of Heaven Way Chapel, Evangelist Patricia Asiamah, popularly known as Agradaa, has claimed that her lawyer’s failure to appear in court yesterday was due to Empress Gifty’s legal team’s inability to serve them with the legal documents on time.

Her comments follows proceedings at the Tema High Court on June 11, 2025, where she is facing a GH¢20 million defamation suit filed by gospel singer Empress Gifty.

Earlier, Empress Gifty’s lawyer told the media that the court could not proceed with a motion for an interlocutory injunction because Agradaa’s counsel failed to show up.

He added that Agradaa’s lawyer had also filed to dismiss the suit, arguing that her statements, while insulting, did not amount to defamation.

In response, Agradaa took to social media to explain her side of the story. She claimed her lawyer was not properly served and accused Empress Gifty’s lawyer of failing to follow legal procedures.

“That self-acclaimed lawyer was supposed to serve my lawyer seven days before the hearing, but he didn’t,” she said in a video. “The documents were only handed to the bailiff the day before court.”

She argued that short-notice service was improper and insisted the public should know the real reason behind her lawyer’s absence.

The legal dispute stems from an ongoing social media feud between the two public figures. Agradaa allegedly made defamatory remarks against Empress Gifty and her husband, prompting the gospel musician to file the lawsuit. The case has since drawn significant public attention, particularly on social media.

Proceedings continue as both sides prepare for the next steps in the legal battle.
