7 Lawra SHS Students Drown In Dikpe River

Seven students from Lawra Senior High School in the Upper West Region have reportedly drowned in the Dikpe River in Lawra.

The incident occurred on Saturday morning, June 14, 2025, when a group of students, during their regular jogging routine, attempted to use a canoe to cross to the opposite side of the river, and the canoe capsized.

Information gathered indicates that five students were feared dead, and two missing, while three others managed to escape without injury.

However, on Sunday, June 15, 2025, the search team found the two missing students, totaling seven dead students.

Meanwhile, the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), the school authorities and the police are yet to comment on the incident.
