Two Arrested Over Dampong Headmaster’s Murder

Police Arrest Two Over Dampong Headmaster Murder

The Ashanti North Regional Police Command has apprehended two individuals in connection with the murder of Eric Obeng Darko, the former headmaster of Dampong Senior High School in the Ashanti Region.

The suspects, Mubarak Mohammed, 38, and Prophetess Elizabeth Darkwah, 48, were arrested on June 9 and 17, 2025, respectively. They have since appeared before district courts in Kodie and Suame.

According to a statement from Acting Regional Public Affairs Director ASP Emmanuel Agbodzi, preliminary investigations revealed that in 2024, Prophetess Darkwah solicited an undisclosed sum of money from the deceased under the guise of uncovering ancient family gold for him. As part of this arrangement, she visited Darko’s residence in Bampenase near Mamponteng at night, accompanied by Mubarak Mohammed, where they allegedly unearthed 20 pieces of yellowish substances that she claimed were gold needing purification at her church.

However, attempts by Darko to meet with Darkwah for the purification process were repeatedly evaded. Subsequently, Darkwah enlisted Mubarak Mohammed and three other accomplices, who are currently at large, to abduct and murder the victim before he could reach her church.

Tragically, during the abduction, Darko attempted to escape but was struck and killed by a Honda Odyssey vehicle driven by Mubarak Mohammed.

Both suspects have been remanded into police custody and are scheduled to reappear in court on July 4, 2025. The police are actively pursuing the remaining suspects involved in this case.
