The 13th edition of the Guinness Ghana DJ Awards is set to be launched on July 12 at the Luna Rooftop Bar, Airport City, Accra.
The theme for this year’s edition, “Shake the Floor,” seeks to highlight the DJs’ role as more than just a music selector but a cultural curator with the unique capabilities to uplift communities through sound and energy.
According to Creative Director of the event, Merqury Quaye, DJs have put in a lot of hard work and the DJ culture looks good.
He said, “This year, DJs have really put in a lot of work and the DJ culture is really looking good.”
He revealed that a lot of prizes will be up for grabs while major discoveries will be made during this year’s campaign.
Also, the 2025 edition promises to place priority on a sound clash; thus reggae DJ battle between two of Ghana’s revered sound clash groups, a feature that is bound to send the auditorium into a total frenzy due to its Jamaican music culture roots.
Organisers say about a dozen celebrated DJs and artistes have already been confirmed for performances on the night, waiting to be outdoored at the launch.
Again, the July 12 launch will serve as the curtain raiser for a series of activities lined up in the buildup to the main event on November 29, 2025 at the Palms Convention Centre. Paramount on the tall list are the Pub Fest, Ladies Concert, and Nominees Jam. Other equally relevant activities and events include the television series dubbed Road to Guinness Ghana DJ Awards which airs on Joy Prime, a nationwide tour and the Ghana DJ Clinic, which provides in-depth and priceless education to DJs and other stakeholders in the music fraternity.
The event is sponsored by Guinness Ghana and powered by Smirnoff.
