Tragedy struck on Sunday, August 10, 2025, when two members of the Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) Church at Aburaso in the Ahafo Ano South East District of the Ashanti Region, lost their lives in a road accident on the Kumasi–Bechem Highway. Several others, including children, sustained serious injuries.

The victims were reportedly seated along the roadside when a commercial bus, registered AS 6255-18, was involved in a violent crash near their location. Eyewitnesses say a tyre burst on the moving bus triggered the accident.

One witness, Agyei Boateng Douglas, recounted that immediately after the crash, he and others rushed to assist the victims. However, they faced difficulty getting the injured to hospital, as passing drivers refused to stop.

“All attempts to get them to the hospital proved futile. No driver was willing to help. It took a tricycle driver to finally transport them,” he said.

Two victims, including a church elder, were pronounced dead upon arrival at the Adugyama Hospital. Others in critical condition, including a woman who broke her neck and her son with a severe head injury, were later transferred to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi.

The accident has left the Aburaso SDA Church community in deep shock and mourning. Police investigations into the incident are ongoing.
