Nana Addo, Bawumia, Kufour Observe State Burial Ceremony

 

Former President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has arrived at Black Star Square for the State Burial Ceremony of the eight Ghanaians who lost their lives in the fatal military helicopter crash on August 6, 2025.

Other dignitaries present include Former President John Agyekum Kufuor, Former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Former Second Lady, Samira Bawumia, Former First Lady, Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, Ashanti Regional NPP Chairman, Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, NDC National Chairman, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, among other dignitaries.

In a tribute read on behalf of Mrs. Rita Omane Boamah, wife of the late Defence Minister Dr. Edward Kofi Omane Boamah, she recalled how her husband often posed a question she has never been able to answer: “Abena Rita, what will you do when I am not around?”

“I never answered you, and until today I don’t have an answer,” she says. Mrs. Omane Boamah recounted their first meeting on a medical school bus, even though she was not a medical student, describing their journey as one filled with love, laughter, and late-night walks.

She described the late Defence Minister as a “loving and perfect father.”
