A scene of the accident
A sorrowful accident scene at Kojokrom, a suburb of the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis, turned dramatic when the grieving mother of a married man killed in a motorbike crash began striking his lifeless body, accusing him of being stubborn and unfaithful.
The deceased, Nathaniel Afful, popularly known in the community as Sofo, was riding a motorcycle with a young woman believed to be his girlfriend when they collided head-on with a commercial ‘trotro’ at Nkansah Junction in the early hours of August 18, 2025. Both sustained severe injuries that led to their deaths.
Assembly Member for Kojokrom, Philip Nkrumah, who was at the scene, recounted the incident on Connect FM. According to him, when Afful’s mother arrived, grief quickly gave way to anger as she accused her son of being reckless and “too stubborn,” who never listened to advice.
“His mother came and saw his lifeless body, and she was angry. She started hitting him, saying he was too stubborn and never listened to advice,” Mr. Nkrumah narrated.
He explained that when he first got to the scene, Afful’s body was lying by the roadside, while the young woman, who had been seated at the back of the motorcycle, was still alive.
“She was rushed to the hospital immediately, while the police were called in to begin investigations,” Mr. Nkrumah said, adding, unfortunately, she was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at the hospital.
Sources in the community disclosed that the supposed girlfriend had visited him and he was taking her back to her place when the accident occurred.
DAILY GUIDE gathered that family members had on several occasions warned Afful about his alleged extramarital affair with the deceased woman. However, he is said to have ignored these cautions, a decision his relatives now believe led to his tragic end.
