A 17-YEAR-old girl at Tafo Nhyiaeso in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region is currently battling for her life in the hospital after she was knocked down by a vehicle.
The victim, identified only as Clementina, was said to be walking on the shoulders of the road around 1:50pm on August 24, 2025, when calamity struck.
The suspect, Richmond Awuni, 22, according to the police, was allegedly driving Mercedes Benz bus without due care and attention, knocking down the girl.
“On August 24, 2025, at about 1350 hours, suspect driver Richmond Awuni, 22 years of age, was driving Mercedes Benz bus with Reg. No. AS 5310- R from Tafo Nhyiaeso towards Moshie Zongo.
“At Tafo Nhyiaeso bridge, without due care and attention, he knocked down a female pedestrian by name Clementina, aged 17, who was walking on the shoulders of the road.
“The victim sustained serious injuries and was rushed to Tafo Government Hospital, where she was admitted for treatment,” a statement from Tafo Pankrono Police said.
According to the police, the accident Mercedes Benz bus has since been impounded at the station, and the suspect driver also detained to assist in the investigation.
