The Member of Parliament (MP) for Tolon Constituency, Alhaji Habib Iddrisu, has provided financial support to 229 needy but brilliant students in the Tolon Constituency totaling GH¢320,000, through the Soyalana Educational and Endowment Fund.
During a brief ceremony in Tolon, the MP disbursed the funds to the beneficiaries and assured the Tolon District Education Directorate of his readiness to offer support whenever needed.
“Education remains one of my top priorities, and I am always prepared to support any initiative that promotes quality learning for our people. I am here whenever they need me,” he stated.
Since its establishment in 2021, the Soyalana Educational Fund has assisted over 2,000 tertiary students from the Tolon Constituency, alleviating the financial burden on many families and promoting higher education in the area.
He disclosed initiatives such as building a library, establishing a science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) school, providing international scholarships, and other educational infrastructure in the constituency as his commitment to education.
The Tolon MP reaffirmed his dedication to enhancing education in the area and urged the beneficiary students to take their studies seriously, as they are the future leaders of the constituency.
“Many complete senior high school but remain at home, not because they lack the will to continue their education, but simply because they cannot afford the fees. That is why I have taken it upon myself to do everything possible to support needy students in this constituency to achieve their dreams,” he stated.
The lawmaker also pledged to work closely with the Education Directorate to ensure they are well-resourced to effectively fulfil their mandate.
Alhassan Asana, a beneficiary who spoke on behalf of her colleagues, thanked the Tolon MP for his continuous support to deserving students in the constituency, and assured him that they would not disappoint him.
In a related development, the Tolon MP donated laptops, printer, photocopier machine, scanners and computer accessories to the Tolon District Assembly worth over GH¢200,000.
