Tano North MP Debunks ‘Lies’

Dr. Gideon Boako

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Tano North Constituency, Dr. Gideon Boako, has denied remarks attributed to him.

“It has come to my attention that certain remarks attributed to the Tano North Constituency New Patriotic Party (NPP) Secretary claim that I, Dr. Gideon Boako, support H.E. Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia only out of loyalty, even though I supposedly believe he cannot win the 2028 elections,” the MP disclosed in a statement.

In the reaction, Dr. Boako said he was not present at the delegates’ meeting in Tano North where these allegations were said to have been made.

“Any suggestion linking me to such claims is false and should be treated with the contempt it deserves.

“Such wicked claims can only be a figment of his own wild imaginations,” he added.

For the avoidance of doubt, he said “my support for Dr. Bawumia is not borne out of blind loyalty. It is based on my deep conviction that he is the most prepared, credible, experienced, and winnable candidate to lead the New Patriotic Party to victory in 2028. If the Constituency Secretary is confident in the chances of his preferred candidate, the appropriate path is to win the primaries and not to invent falsehoods about others.”

In Tano North, he recalled, “we demonstrated our trust in Dr. Bawumia’s leadership by delivering 83% of the votes to him in the 2023 flagbearer elections,” adding that they remain united and committed to repeating that resounding victory.”

Personally, he went on, “I remain focused on working tirelessly for Dr. Bawumia while fulfilling my parliamentary oversight responsibilities with dedication.

“I am also aware of attempts by some aspirants to associate themselves with my name and credibility in order to boost their electoral prospects. Let it be clear that the goodwill I enjoy in Tano North is not accidental. It is the result of years of consistent, humble, and dedicated service, strongly backed by the support of Dr. Bawumia.”

The people of Tano North know this, and they appreciate it, he said, stressing that “we will continue to work with all our energy for Dr. Bawumia, and come January 31, 2026, the results will once again speak for themselves.”
