Some angry youth of Manso Tetrem in front of the Afari Hospital morgue
The Chief of Manso Tetrem, Nana Akwasi Koh, has given a chilling account of how the Assembly Member for Manso Aboabo, Samson Danquah, was allegedly shot and killed by armed soldiers in broad daylight on Tuesday, September 9, 2025.
According to the chief, the late Assembly Member had been called to help calm a group of angry youth who had vowed to block vehicles of Asanko Mines following the death of a 50-year-old miner.
“When I saw the agitated youth, I anticipated chaos, so I called the Assembly Member to talk to them. Sadly, he was gunned down by soldiers despite holding no weapon or posing any threat,” Nana Koh recounted.
The miner’s death, which residents claim was caused after he was chased by security officers of the mining company and fell into a pit, sparked the protest that led to the confrontation.
Community members accused Asanko Mines’ security of harassment and intimidation, alleging that their presence has made life unbearable in the area. The killing of the Assembly Member, they say, is the latest example of the alleged brutality.
The chief has appealed to regional and national authorities to urgently investigate the matter and step in to prevent further violence.
The deceased body has since been deposited at the Afari Hospital morgue for preservation and awaiting autopsy.
