Lil Win Slams NFA For Holding Film Dialogue In English Only

Kumawood star, Lil Win, has taken a swipe at the National Film Authority (NFA) for sidelining local film stakeholders by conducting its recent National Film Dialogue entirely in English.

Speaking after the event, held at the University of Ghana, the actor said the choice of language left many Kumawood participants unable to fully engage in the discussions.

“They spoke English throughout, and Kumawood actors and stakeholders were more. Most of them can’t even speak English, but majority can speak Twi. It would have been more effective if they had two sessions; one in English and another in Twi,” Lil Win complained.

He described the experience as “unfair,” revealing that he and others with valuable contributions sat in silence because of the language barrier.

“It’s unfair because some of us just sat throughout without understanding or even making a submission, though we had a lot to contribute,” he said.

The National Film Dialogue, organised by the NFA, is designed to tackle key challenges in Ghana’s film industry and shape policies for its development. But Lil Win insists it missed the mark by shutting out the very voices it claimed to represent.
