Ibinabo Fiberesima’s N1.5m Bank Fraud Culprit Caught

Nollywood actress and producer, Ibinabo Fiberesima, says the culprit behind an unauthorised N1.5 million transfer from her bank account has been caught.

The actress confirmed the development on Tuesday in a terse response to a reporter of the Nigeria’s Daily Sun after raising the alarm a day earlier about a suspicious debit from her Access Bank account.

“I found the culprit,” she revealed.

On Monday, Fiberesima had taken to her verified Facebook page to demand answers from Access Bank, lamenting that the transaction was traced to a Moniepoint Point-of-Sale (POS) terminal.

“Access Bank please tell me the Moniepoint POS that collected the money,” she wrote. “The transaction does not have time, it has only date. Access Bank explain what happened to my money.”

The actress accused the bank of failing in its duty to protect customers’ funds, blasting it for approving the suspicious debit without verification.

By Tuesday, however, Fiberesima announced that her money had been refunded. “I have received my money from @accessbank. Thank you everyone,” she posted.

But in a twist, she disclosed that the fraud was orchestrated by people close to her. “I was HIT By my MOST TRUSTED PEOPLE. This Life, TRUST NO ONE,” she wrote, without naming names.

The arrest has triggered fresh conversations online about rising bank fraud and the need for stronger security around digital transactions.
