The Late George Clifford Owusu
Renowned entertainment journalist with the Daily Guide Newspaper, George Clifford Owusu, has passed away.
He died on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at the Ridge Hospital in Accra after a short illness.
Born on May 26, 1975, and from Swedru, Central Region, Clifford Owusu dedicated over two decades of his life to entertainment journalism.
Through his celebrated “BEATWAVES” page in the Daily Guide, he championed Ghanaian music, film, and the creative arts, offering a vital platform for both rising and established talents.
Widely admired for his humility, professionalism, and passion for the arts, Clifford became a trusted voice in the industry. Many credit him with helping to shape the visibility of Ghana’s creative sector both locally and internationally.
Tributes
Tributes have since poured in across social and traditional media.
His colleague, Charles Takyi-Boadu wrote: “You were a friendly person I could easily call an elder brother. You were almost always full of laughter… George Clifford Owusu, why so soon when you had so much ahead of you for your wife and children?”
Entertainment personality George Britton also expressed his shock, writing: “What’s going on with George Clifford Owusu? I hope the rumours about his death aren’t true.”
Former colleague Nii Ogbamey Tetteh added: “All our conversations started with hot insults and ended with laughter. My senior colleague in the Daily Guide newsroom who never got angry and always respected everyone. RIP George Clifford Owusu.”
George Clifford Owusu is remembered as a dedicated journalist, a loyal colleague, and a selfless promoter of Ghanaian talents.
“Hard to accept this, Cliff. You said you would call me back the last time we spoke, but you never did. Rest well, boss. Journey well brother.”
